WVNN vs. North Alabama Media Reform sign now

The North Alabama Media Reform group has decided to attempt to take on WVNN by going to our advertisers and attempting to change the programming on the station. The advertisers have scoffed at this ridiculous idea. Here is a copy of the letter:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: North Alabama Media Reform
www.northalabamamediareform.org

To: Advertisers on WVNN

As a member of the North Alabama Media Reform I would like to
bring something to your attention. Many of your products or services
are not heard through your advertising by as many people as you would
like do to the unbalanced slant that WVNN uses. In 2004 40.4\% of
voters in Madison Co., and 31.5\% in Limestone Co., voted for a
democratic president. Most of these voters do not hear your
advertising, but might if WVNN's format was changed to include a more
progressive voice.

We ask that when you pay for your advertising that you request a more
balanced format. This would bring more listeners, and more listeners
would means more money in your pocket.

North Alabama Media Reform was created to promote a fair and balanced
media to the public.

Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you have any
questions or comments.

Sincerely,

Ron Allen

They went after our advertisers because they can not find a commercial radio station willing to put progressive talk radio on the airwaves in The Tennessee Valley. I have attempted to reach out to this organization before and gave them 90 minutes of airtime to try to make their case. Even after this they continue to claim that WVNN is a hate radio station, which will not allow opposing views to be heard. This is a false statement and their appearance on my program proves that.

On February 11th this organization by has decided they will hold a meeting at Tai Pan Palace, 2012 Memorial Pkwy SW (corner of Memorial Parkway and Governor's Drive) at 6PM. ***This date and location may change.*** I have asked this group to allow me to address their letter they have sent to the advertisers and they have refused to respond. I have attempted to contact Ron Allen at [email protected] and he ALSO refuses to respond. Because of their failure to respond to me, I have decided I will be attending their meeting on February 11th, 2008 and help them understand where they are going wrong. I am asking those that support NewsTalk 770AM/92.5FM WVNN to join me at this groups meeting to help me explain how radio in the real world works. I have enlisted the help of a sales associate at WVNN to come and help me try to talk to these people and explain the concept of a free market and advertiser supported commercial radio. Please sign up below if you can attend. E-mail me at [email protected] for more information or go to www.wvnn.com.

Again the meeting will be at Tai Pan Palace, 2012 Memorial Pkwy SW (corner of Memorial Parkway and Governor's Drive) at 6PM. ***This date and location may change.***
