What's up with the Heather Kennett/Jeremy Shum child sex thing? sign now

20 November 2010

With no doubt, the Jeremy Shum/Heather Kennett sex sagas will go down in history as one of the turnaround moments of the 21st century. However, with all the gossip and misinformation from biased parties, what really was the truth, how did it all happen, what were the motives, and what didn't the media report? This will be the most authoritative and independent investigation into the events that changed Adelaide, South Australia.

In every courtroom, in every state, in every judicial system, in the world, in-court evidence is considered stronger than out-of-court (or hearsay) evidence. Following the publication of an article by Heather Kennett that attacked 20-year-old Jeremy Shum for being too young to be a consultant lecturer, to hold public office, and using aspects of his fictional story Special Agent Shum to defame him in the local News Corp Eastern Courier Messenger, to more than 100,000 Adelaideans in eastern Adelaide, the whole state begun to question the motives behind 45-year-old Heather Kennett. What was her motive for her swipe at the 20-year-old? Why was she using his age to discriminate him? Why did she quote a section of his novel and report this as fact? Immediately, critics turned to the possibility of sexual abuse, which was corroborated by a leaked of a Supreme Court cause of action that described Heather Kennett as being "sexually abusive, harassing, and threatening", stalking, and displaying outlandish "paparazzi-style" behaviour. Others claimed Heather Kennett had gone through childhood issues, felt sexual attractions toward the 20-year-old, and when rejected, went on a spree for vendetta. Still others claimed Heather Kennett was driven by power, politics, money and sex, provided by Shum's political enemies MBA-dropout Ron Green and the Rick Powers/Julian Carbone gang. Yet others claimed Heather Kennett was racist, attacking the first Asian candidate that stood for election for the Burnside council. The media circus grew. Rumours were continually spread, the truth twisted, and documents that claimed Heather Kennett sexually abused Jeremy Shum as a child surfaced. But there was an even more twisted side, opposing arguments postulated that Heather Kennett was the person to spread the allegations she sexually abused Jeremy Shum, to make it seem as if though he "went public" with it to get back at her (rather than vice versa), in what was described by one person as "supremely twisted", in order to gain sympathy. Whether Heather Kennett spread the rumours she sexually abused Jeremy Shum or not, Kennett had no idea she would be painted as a child sex offender. The problem with hearsay evidence though, is that it's intrinsically unreliable. There is not a shred of evidence, Kennett should be construed as a child sex offender, given she hasn't recorded a conviction for child sex abuse. But does this mean all the allegations were false? Of course not, but which ones were true, which ones were false, and how do you know what is the absolute truth? The answer lies in doing a psychological profile of the pair.

Jeremy H. Shum graduated from Linden Park Primary School and then Marryatville High School at the age of 15 with a TER of 99.85. He then went on to studies in a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), Laws and Engineering (Optical & Electronic) graduating in 2008 and 2010 respectively from the Universities of Adelaide and South Australia. He is a consultant lecturer of his educational studio Waverly Labs, his MySpace has over 200,000 hits, he has various reliable sources including IMDb, enclyclopedia entries, and a long list of research publications co-authored by other staff members. Jeremy Shum was a candidate to the Ward of Rose Park & Toorak Gardens in the Burnside council election 2010, where he won around 15\% of the primary vote, in a very good feat as a 20-year-old. He would have had his future ahead of him, and his excellent reputation at University as an informal lecturer to students was considered second-to-none.

Heather Kennett is assumed to have graduated from high school. It is unclear whether she completed studies at university level. She is a political journalist with the Eastern Courier Messenger. The only reliable source of information about her is from a Wikipedia entry entitled "Eastern Courier Messenger", which she could of course have edited herself. Kennett sits on no boards, and holds no public position for which she is accountable to.

When one compares the distinctive scientific evidence of Jeremy Shum as compared with Heather Kennett, it is clear that though Kennett held disproportionate power as a journalist who could publish whatever she liked in the newspaper, Shum was a handsome gentleman who was highly successful in his own regard. Going to the issue of the reason why the article that attacked Mr. Shum based on a fictional story was written then, the answer is quite clear. Unlike many accusations Kennett is "incompetent" or "unprofessional", I do not see this to be the case. Clearly, Kennett had a carefully crafted agenda to use whatever method to damage Jeremy Shum that was possible, and because there were none other, a fictional story would do. It should be noted Kennett is generally accurate in her articles, so in order not to damage her own reputation, she would have to use a fictional story and report it as fact, which is true, even though not for the purposes intended, as evident. The question then begs, is why on Skywalker's planet, would Kennett have had reason to, using "whatever means possible, legal or not, attack Mr. Shum"? The reasons therefore are reduced, to:

1) That Heather Kennett had serious psychological issues rooted in her childhood, that she really engaged in unspeakable acts, which would have reasonably led to her attack on a 20-year-old boy

2) That Heather Kennett is a racist, desiring to attack an Asian candidate for that reason alone

3) That Heather Kennett received a bribe from Ronald Green/Rick Powers/Julian Carbone to attack their political enemy Jeremy

4) That Heather Kennett had a sexual attraction towards Jeremy, but on being rejected, stalked him

Although some documentary evidence shows that Kennett has been accused of receiving bribes from Ron Green/Rick Powers/Julian Carbone, there are allegations this may have extended to include the whole of Eastern Courier, including (1) Heather Kennett, (2) Lisa Bachmayer, (3) Shannon Caton, (4) Chantelle Kroehn. Still further evidence shows that Kennett, who was alleged to have been behind the Lachlan Clyne smear, was not, but instead a woman by the name of "Alice Higgins". It is thus far more likely Alice Higgins received the Ronald Green/Rick Powers/Julian Carbone bribe, than Jeremy. Similarly, to attack a person purely based on race seems outrageous, given the criticism Kennett would receive as a result. Furthermore, it is quite unreasonable to suggest childhood sex or other issues would have caused Kennett to randomly attack any 20-year-old. The question is why Jeremy, not any other 20-year-old? What is so "special" about this one that he was targeted, groomed, and solicited by Heather?

My opinion is that Heather Kennett had a sex attraction towards Jeremy, and after approaching his property, as South Australian police were contacted and she was reported for "stalking", she became instantly angry towards the 20-year-old. Feelings of psychological trauma may have enhanced the effect, but she immediately scoured Jeremy's webpages, finding any evidence that would discredit him. As the imaginative engineer Jeremy Shum is, there was one source: his storytelling, and his novel Special Agent Shum. Seeing as though he claimed he was the "managing director of the mythical mystical magical Waverly Labs", Kennett decided to report this as Shum saying he was the MD of Waverly Labs. Knowing that defamation law looks at the essence of an article rather than the exact words per se, Kennett knew the addition of "LA-based" would make Shum seem fraudulent, so decided to add this, to discredit him further. To add injury to pain, Kennett then solicited quotations from UniSA Jeremy Shum was no longer a staff member there, to make it seem he claimed to be a CURRENT staff member, but wasn't - but he never made this claim! He of course only said he was a previous staff member, and like famous UniSA Sturt candidate Rick Sarre had moved out of his employment with UniSA to run for the election. But surely, this wasn't enough pain for the 20-year-old who rejected her sexual advances. She called up the State's Electoral Commission (Michelle Hickey/Kay Mousley), to "report him" for what was written on a webpage (which for all intent and purposes can be assumed to have been created by Kennett herself), which would mean Mousley would have to "investigate" the matter. This may have been defamatory, so Kennett stuck with "likely investigated".

The question then, is if Jeremy was being stalked by Kennett, why he responded to her requests. The Jeremy Shum spin team obviously knew of the media effects of unresponded comments. Everybody knows "no comment" can be construed to mean that that person has something to hide, or is lying. So when Kennett emailed Jeremy, he responded to her questions, but not in person. To be painstaking though, Kennett reported Shum as "when approached on his property, declined to comment". Well of course he would decline! Kennett was stalking him, sexually attracted to him, she was a 45-year-old he 20, and from a requisite person this would have been outrageously abusive. As realised by an internet blogger, it is only for the lowered child/adult laws, that sexual harassment of a 20-year-old isn't considered child abuse. These "high-tax, low-benefit, corrupt Australian laws", one economist described.

I approached a psychologist and asked for their opinion. They stated that doing a psychosis on both Shum and Kennett, she first made it clear the assessment criteria should be inappropriate depression; vehement anger; anxiety; misperceptions; thinking disorders; unsuitable behaviours. On Jeremy Shum's engineering portfolio, it will be displayed he is a chirpy teenager who is easy going, dressed handsomely, and holds no misperception about who he is. Sure some could argue his imagination could be construed as a thinking disorder, but relating to people, we all know better than that. Contrast this with 45-year-old Kennett, who is likely stuck at her community (not city) newspaper at nearly the end of her career, not going anywhere. The absence of an official profile with her photo could also be construed as a result of her being anxious of other people tracking her, even unsuitable behaviour of antisociability. Compared with one another, Shum simply doesn't display the same exotic emotions Kennett does. But you could try to argue the converse scenario: Shum is an anxious angry teenager who misperceives himself to be awesome, but in this place of entrenchment, displays bible verses on his MySpace, is seen really happy and bright in photos, continues writing novels, graduated from law/commerce by the age of 20, and the list goes on. Kennett on the other hand, is a bright 45-year-old who although still works for her community newspaper, and has kids at home, is full of passion and zest for life, not depressed about her circumstances, and not anxious. But would you believe me if you were a jury? Or at least a reasonable jury that was not corrupt?

In my mind, the facts are thus as follows:

1) Heather Kennett, seeing the profile of Jeremy Shum, developed a sexual interest in him, approached the council gazette, obtained his personal contact details, and approached his property to see him, pretending to ask a few questions

2) When Kennett was rejected at the front door, and police called to repress her, she went on a trawl to damage Jeremy in any way possible

3) Kennett collected fictional stories Jeremy wrote, obtained quotes from UniSA that were irrelevant, went to the electoral commission to submit a fake document so that Jeremy would have to be "investigated" (at least on paper), and reported it just days before the election

4) When Kennett found Jeremy made no response, published on various web sites she had sexually abused Jeremy to grab his attention, so he would have to have further talks with her, and she could nourish their "relationship"

5) When Kennett's web posts were exposed, with claims she was behind similar smears of Lachlan Clyne, she turned to even more twisted methods, too inappropriate, and unfortunately not sourced well enough to be written down on paper

The truth hurts, and Kennett knows it. Forwarded emails from network administrators show that News Corp has hired the big guns from Kelly & Co Lawyers to fight the matter in court, to have these various web sites suppressed.

Thank God for democracy and the likes of Julian Assange. Otherwise, it would have never been known Heather Kennett was such a child sex addict.

Australians can claim that their "law" says adult is over 18, not 21, so a 20-year-old isn't a child. But we all know better when a 45-year-old is involved with a 20-year-old - and it's not a pretty picture to paint, particularly given all countries worldwide would have considered that paedophelia, if the teenager was just a blink-of-the-eye younger. And this is not to remember it wasn't consensual.

You cry the word "rape"? "Technical rape" or otherwise, I agree.
