We Object To Russ Nelson (OSI) Saying Blacks Are Lazy sign now

On January 31st 2005 Russ Nelson was appointed President of the OSI, the Open Source Initiative (http://opensource.org).

One week later (February 7th, 2005) Mr. Nelson published an article on his web site (angry-economist.russnelson.com) titled "Blacks are lazy".
(blacks-are-lazy.html).

He has since removed the offending article, saying it "was poorly written" (Google and Yahoo! still have copies in their cache).

Our concern is that Mr. Nelson, by posting such inflammatory articles, reinforces the stereotypes he claims to decry. He also damages the reputations of all who advocate open-source software.

We would ask that OSI remove Mr. Nelson, or failing such action, hand responsibility for managing the Open Source Definition and licensing certification to another group.
