Voice Of India!. Have we not erred in the matrix? sign now

Dear Voice Of India!

I am thoroughly disappointed that a genuine singer like Toshi has been voted out of the competition on Saturday. This speaks how hollow our system to find out the voice of India is. It is really unfair to all participants to leave the choice to voting public. It is not a general election where any one can come out sussessful with money & muscle power. Here we are on a serious business to find out the Voice of India. The winner one day would deserve equal status to Latha / Rafi or Kishoreda. If that be so, are we not fooling ourselves by leaving the choice to the voting public who doesnt vote for the talent but for other reasons well known to themselves? Could you expect Toshi or Mirande coming form Rajasthan and Gujarat can match the voting patterns from Mumbai or Calcutta or that from Delhi? Now the contest has boiled down to a competition based on location and state. I wont be surprised if Sumitra is voted as the VOI, for no fault of hers, since she hails from Bombay.

Another aspect which is astonishing is that from Top Ten onwards the judges have no say in evaluating the performances of the contestants. Why should the five judges waste their time in the programme then? Let the knowledgeable public vote for the voice of India! Though the intention was good the matrix has failed here... You are not going to get the most talented singer, u will get the most glamorous performer at the end, pardon me foe saying so. Shan, I hope u wanted the Voice of India and not the show man/woman!

I would like to suggest a way to bail out from this precarious situation. Please make the evaluation system more transparent. No one knows how many votes each contestant received each week! Also make judges the ultimate body to decide the results.
Following are suggested.

1. Let each judge allot points out of 100 so that it becomes easy for them to allot marks more objectively. So one contestant gets max 500 marks. Give 70 \% value for this score.
2. Now get the percentage of votes each contestant gets out of the total votes polled. Allot 30 \% value for the people's choice.
3. Allot degree of dificulty from 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, and 1.6. 1.8, 2.0( or any sliding scale what judges feel ok ) for the song selected by the contestant

Now work out the Total points as follows Say for Mirande

Alka 65
Jatin 84
Lalit 70
Abhijit 75
Adesh 76
Total 370 i.e. 74\%, 70\% of 74 = 51.8
She got 8,000 votes out of 20,000 poled, means 40 \%, 30\% of 40 = 12
Her Total score will be 63.8
Now degree of difficulty of the song selected is Say 1.2.
Then her score becomes 63.8x1.2 = 76.56. This is Mirandes final score. Hope it takes care of all the aspects that we look for ie talent, popularity & singing ability.

Thanking You.

With warmest regards,
