Transworld to carry Scissor Sisters Album, Tah-Dah! sign now
According to many news sources, Transworld Entertainment, (owner of subsidiaries F.Y.E., Coconuts, Wherehouse Music, Strawberries, Spec's, Planet Music, and Sam Goody) has decided not to carry the latest Scissor Sisters album, Tah-dah! due to comments made by lead singer Jake Shears.
(See http://www.esdmusic.com/2006/09/26/scissor-sisters-state-the-obvious-and-ta-dah-your-local-record-store-has-banned-them-for-it/)
Jake Shears expressed an opinion that CD prices were too high after attempting to buy an album marked at $18.99. Transworld entertainment claims Jake should have taken the album to a manager, and he would have discovered it was actually on sale. Furthermore, they claim to have attemted to reach Scissor Sisters to discuss his comments, were ignored, and chose to retaliate by not carrying his album.
This action benefits NOBODY. This hurts the band, record sales for TWEC, the consumer, and worsens the already tarnished reputation of the traditional retail music industry.
We the undersigned demand that Transworld Entertainment carry the new Scissor Sisters album, Tah-Dah! and end this embarassing industry bickering. If this demand is not met, we the undersigned assert that we will no longer shop at any of your retail locations.
