Totally Obsessed sign now

We, the undersigned, hereby place petition against the cable television network, VH1 (http://www.vh1.com), its parent company, Viacom (http://www.viacom.com) and the creators, producers, host and stars of the television show "Totally Obsessed" (http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/totally_obsessed/series.jhtml) in reference to the episode showing on August 26, 2004, dealing with the "Gaining Goddess", Nicki McRoberts.

Nicki McRoberts (henceforth called "Nicki") is "totally obsessed with gaining weight, she won't rest until she is 600 pounds." We, the undersigned, believe that this decision is extremely unsafe and unhealthy and will cause her much undue pain and torment in her life.

Modern medical practices suggest that the average American should consume approximately 2000 calories a day. According to VH1, Nicki is taking in at close to 14,000 calories a day. Based off of FDA standards, that is enough caloric intake for seven people.

Nicki stated that her desire to gain weight as such was due to a reaction she attained from seeing how happy and sexy looking big women. Although one should applaud people for encouraging a happy lifestyle, one should be obsessed with becoming someone they are not in an attempt to be "happy and sexy".

Furthermore, we the undersigned, feel that VH1 and Viacom are doing an unnecessary injustice to Nicki by acting as an enabler. By airing the episode, she is gaining attention to a mental affliction that is causing her to think unrationally. Furthermore, VH1 and Viacom are treating Nicki's condition as another money making scheme for their companies.

We, the undersigned, hereby sign this petition in an effort to have VH1 and Viacom remove the Nicki McRoberts segment from the episode and refer Nicki to a psychologist for proper treatment of her condition.
