The Stop Sign Againts Trafficking sign now

Let the World Cup players wear the traffic sign STOP on the national team jersey against trafficking.

On the 7th of January 2000 a girl throws herself from the bridge rail down on the highway E22 in the outskirts of the Swedish city Malmц. Three days later she dies from from her injuries. She didnt have any identity documents, but in her pocket she had three letters in Lithuanian. Through these letters it was possible to identify her and the story of her life was sorted out. The girls name was Danguole. She was sixteen years' old and she was one of the 120 000 women and children who are annually transported to EU from other parts of the world to get sexually exploited. Humans are sold, transported and consumed by traffickers, sex tourists, porn producers, and ordinary men. Most often its young women and children from poor environments who are tempted with promises of a better life, while others are being forced. Criminal networks recruits and smuggles, and on arrival many get their identity documents, and money, stolen. Many are being drugged and tortured - broken down mentally as well as physically and they are forced to sell their bodies over and over again.

During the Football World Cup in Germany, national football stars have a chance to advance from being a sport star to become a sport hero. The only requirement is that the footballer takes a stance against trafficking, and to this end that the national federation let the players wear the stop sign on the national team jersey. The stop sign symbolizes the players support for the fight against trafficking. To put it simpel: Stop the traffic!.

Stop signs have the same meaning all over the world, irrespective of education and culture. By wearing the stop sign during the Football World Cup the thought is to attract the international medias attention to one of the most serious problems in society of our time - trafficking. We want more people to know that trafficking in human beings is in fact criminal. With better knowledge, both demand and supply of these bestial sex crimes will decrease. We want the football federation to print the stop sign on the football jerseys.

If you want your national football federation to accept this challenge then please write your name, and country of residence, in the list below and send a message to all your friends letting them know about it.

I demand that my national football federation takes action against trafficking by letting the national team wear national team jerseys with well-visible stop signs during the Football World Cup:
