The Induction of Johnnie Taylor into The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame sign now

This petition is for the induction of one Johnnie Harrison Taylor into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Born May 3, 1934 in Crawfordsville, Arkansas, Johnnie Taylor went on to become one of the greatest Soul artist of all time. Johnnie Taylor started his professional career in Chicago by singing with a group called The Five Echoes where he recorded some sided for Sabre, and Vee-Jay Records. In 1955 he left The Five Echoes and joined the gospel group The Highway Q.C.'S singing alongside: Spencer Taylor, Credell Copeland, Charles Richardson, Lee Richardson, and Sonny Mitchell. In 1957 Johnnie Taylor left The Highway Q.C.'S and joined the legendary Soul Stirrers replacing the legendary Sam Cooke. Johnnie singing lead on such classics as: The Love Of God, When The Gates Swing Open, Out On A Hill, Heaven Is My Home and many more. In 1960 Johnnie left the Soul Stirrers to presue a solo career. In 1962 Johnnie Taylor joined Sam Cooke at Sam's label SAR/Derby Records. When Sam Cooke was killed in 1964 the label disbanded. Johnnie joined Stax Records in 1966. Johnnie began the greatest period in his career from his association with Stax Records, and later Columbia Records from 1968 to 1977 twenty one singles that made it to the Black Singles Billboard charts and eleven top forty singles on the Billboard Pop charts, and four number one hits: "Who's Making Love", "Jody's Got Your Girl and Gone", I Believe In You (You Believe In Me)", and Disco Lady. In 1976 Disco Lady became the first ever R.I.A.A. (Recording Industry Association of America) certified platinum single. After leaving Columbia in 1980 Taylor went on to record for Beverly Glen and Malaco before his untimely death on May 31, 200.

We, the persons listed below believe by the facts of Johnnie Taylor's career had very long and very fruitful career, and is considered one of the greatest soul singers of all-time. In a time when Johnnie's contemporaries were: Al Green, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Bland,, Sam and Dave, and many other legends, there is one thing that all these men have in common that Johnnie Taylor does not have in common with these men. All of the above men mentioned are in the Rock N Roll Hall of fame. For years this man has been over looked for this great honor. The time has come for this wrong to me made right and give Mr. Johnnie Harrison Taylor his rightful place in history and induct him into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
