The C.U.S.E. Project sign now

Many years ago, there was a place at Syracuse University where students could gather to hear great music and relax after classes. This was the original Jabberwocky, and it played host to anyone from the Talking Heads to James Brown. It was also a place for students to be seen and heard.
In response to the recent closures of such establishments as the Red House, Happy Endings, Armory High, and Planet 505, a group of like-minded students have taken the initiative to create a location for all students to gather in the university area. It is our belief that a venue safe for students of all ages and interests, away from the pressures of Operation Prevent and the current police-state-like conditions found on off campus neighborhoods, would create a vibrant cultural experience beneficial for the whole community.

This venue would be student driven, from its design and conception to its operation and day-to-day functioning. It is essential that any such venue should provide truly free expression of ideas and opinions in a safe environment. Events would span all realms of artistic expression, including: live music, comedy, spoken-word, dance, art exhibitions, writings, and opinions.

We want to ensure that this venue is at no extra cost to students, because freedom of expression is priceless. We urge you to assist us in creating this unique opportunity, as we are all aware that learning also takes place outside the classroom.
