The Addition of BBC World News to American TV sign now

We are tired of the monopoly that CNN, Fox News and MSNBC have on our choices for cable news services. We are fed up with figuring out which channel is the most in-depth. We dont appreciate it when we tune our television sets to their channels just to find them covering celebrity gossip when we expect truly important news events to have precedence. And, finally, we find the constant repetition of domestic stories at the expense of international ones that have just as much implications to our world dull and uninteresting.

At the same time, more and more Americans are realizing that the world is shrinking at an ever-faster pace. They are tired of being caught off-guard when a major international event happens and then having to scramble to find out all that they can about it. In short, American consumers are demanding knowledge about the world around them and international current events from a source they know and trust.

That is why, we the undersigned, propose that you add the BBC World News television channel to your line-up. The BBC has over eighty years of experience reporting news of all kinds in many different formats, from basic radio services in 1922 to modern internet features in the 1990s and to the present day.

BBC World News is the worlds most watched news channel, ahead of CNN. Many people worldwide trust the BBC as their first news service, even above their own national providers. This in itself should speak volumes about the reliability of the BBC for up-to-date and in-depth information about news and current events. The BBC World Service is widely available in the United States on both local PBS radio stations and on satellite radio providers such as Sirius and XM.

Therefore, we urge you to compliment this widespread radio availability with widespread television service. By providing your customers with BBC World News, you will not only make them happy with their new-found availability of international current events, but you will also be generating income during this global recession. It has not passed by our notice that many channels purely devoted to infomercials have been added to your channel line-ups over the past few months. Surely a fresh international news channel will gain more ratings than a group of channels that advertise products that we already know about?

The old concept of Americans ignoring international current events is fading. When we live in a world where production cuts in Asia affect the price of goods in the Americas, when terrorist attacks in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent generate terror and fear all over the world, no one wants to be uninformed or misinformed about these crucial events. Americans are demanding more knowledge about the world around them, and the best source for that knowledge would be the addition of BBC World News to you channel line-ups. It is a brand most Americans are familiar with, and one that is truly committed to a global perspective of current events. We are not making any claims about media bias. As cable and satellite television providers, you have nothing to lose and everything to win by adding this most crucial channel to your line-up.
