Tell Amazon to keep its Post-Order Price Guarantee! sign now

Dear Amazon,

Many who buy at Amazon have been enjoying Amazon's Post-Order Price Guarantee (POPG). POPG allows the user to get their money back on the difference of any Amazon price drop within 30 days of buying an item from Amazon.

More than any actual rebates (which were minimal), users like me enjoyed the peace of mind that came with knowing they could buy today and get the lowest Amazon price, especially in this economy where my dollar doesn't go as far as it used to. At least on Amazon, life was pretty good.

No more.

With no public notice, Amazon has quietly e-mailed people who have recently collected rebates, informing them that any items ordered after September 1 will no longer be eligible for POPG. This is an outrage.

Amazon, you are making a huge mistake.

You're making it harder on me financially at the worst possible time. (Have you heard about the economy?)

And getting rid of POPG will do you no good. I'll use services that track prices like yapta.com and priceprotectr.com. I'll return items and pay the restocking fee, causing you more inventory headaches. I'll still save money, but I'll be much less likely to buy from you in the first place because of the hassle.

I think this is Amazon's knee-jerk reaction to a middling economy, and it's going to hurt everyone, even Amazon.

You're underestimating how much you benefit from POPG. First, Amazon benefits from the loyalty from the peace of mind POPG generates. Second, Amazon benefits from people like me who are much more likely to buy with you and POPG, rather than waiting and worrying about the price going down. Finally, isn't it enough that I have spent my money at Amazon and that my business should be worth such a simple and inexpensive guarantee to your customers?

Barnes & Noble, Tiger Direct, Best Buy, The Apple Store, and dozens of other online and offline retailers have POPG-type policies in place. If POPG is good enough for all these other stores' customers, why am I not good enough? If I don't deserve POPG, then Amazon doesn't deserve my hard-earned dollars. Amazon getting rid of POPG is a smack in the face, and I'm not going to stand for it.

Be sure that if you get rid of POPG, everyone who signs this petition will be more likely to shop elsewhere.

Amazon, hear my voice and the voices of everyone signed to this petition:

KEEP POPG OR LOSE ME!
KEEP POPG OR LOSE ME!
KEEP POPG OR LOSE ME!
