Tasty Chocolate Eclairs For All sign now

Cadbury Trebor Bassett guys,

My name is Phil, and this is my story.
I used to love Cadbury's Chocolate Eclairs. Throughout most of 2003 and 2004 I would eat probably 5 big bags a week, probably over half of all the eclairs in my town. But then, one terrible day, I remember it was in July '04, I noticed in a local shop that the eclairs had a different bag design. At first I thought it might be fake, but then I decided to trust it and excitedly bought three bags. However, when I opened the first bag, and ate the first eclair, I was shocked. Not only had the wrapper design changed, but the actual RECIPE was completely different! I ate most of the rest anyway, but I wasn't happy about it. And neither was anyone else I know.
The rest of the story isn't as important. Basically I found some of the old nicer eclairs and made the most of them, and then tragically on 7th January 2005 I dropped my last ever eclair and couldn't find it. I was extremely sad. Since that day I have never eaten another Cadbury's Chocolate Eclair. As far as I know, everyone I know preferred the old recipe as well.

I have complained to Cadbury Trebor Bassett through their website, and here is the reply I got.

"Thank you for contacting us concerning Cadbury Chocolate Eclairs.

I can confirm that the recipe is, as you quite rightly state, significantly different.

The confectionary market is ever changing and as a trading company within the industry we have to adapt to market pressures and commitments. To do this successfully we employ specialist agencies who work on out behalf to sample and question members of the public to their individual preferences. This has led us to adapt the recipe to appeal to a larger market. Regrettably this also means that those who preferred the older recipe may now be disappointed."

Well now they're feeding me bollocks in more than one way.

The new recipe doesn't appeal to a larger market at all.
People who didn't like chocolate eclairs before aren't going to bother trying the newer ones, and people who DID like chocolate eclairs before either still like them or don't any more. Nobody I know prefers them now to how they used to be... In the good ol' days... Thus, the market has surely not grown wider.

Cadbury, it is your duty, as the fine company that you are, most likely the greatest confectionary manufacturer there is, to once again make chocolate eclairs the way they were supposed to be.

This petition has been created to change the recipe of Cadbury Chocolate Eclairs back to how it was in early 2004.

Thanks a big bunch for reading,
Phil
