Support Garg Family sign now

We, the undersigned, are signing this online petition to express our views in regards to the delay in the immigration decision making process (I-140) for our dear friend, Anuj Garg, his wife Anuda Garg and their infant son, Eashan Garg who is three months old and a U.S. citizen.

Anuj has been a law abiding, tax paying, legal resident of the United States for over nine years. He has been a resident of the State of Washington since 2001, working for United Parcel Service for six years followed by Starbucks for the last 15 months. He is highly regarded in the community and has been involved in supporting local issues for several years.

Recently due to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) change in rules, and delays in processing, he and his family are facing both financial and personal hardships by being forced to leave this country when his current H1B visa expires.

His immigration petition (I-140) was filed in November 2007. However, the USCIS says they cannot an estimate when they can get around to providing a decision, due to short staffing. That puts the Garg family in a terrible situation; as his H1B visa is due to expire in July 2008 with or without a decision by the USCIS on this petition. It means they must leave the United States and throw away years of hard work because our government cannot meet its own mandates for making a timely decision.

The Gargs are trying to live the American dream and have been doing through hard work and by following the rules. It is a very difficult situation for them. They were married in 2004 and purchased their first home in Renton in 2004 and had their first child only three months ago.

How would you like to be in their shoes; by the end of the month sell your home and investments at a loss, relocate your newborn to another country, loose your job and the career you had built over nine years and figure out how youre going to support your family while waiting on another government agency. It is a losing situation all around; for the Garg family, their friends, neighbors and his employer.

We believe it is unfair and counter productive to deport the Gargs without being granted a grace period to stay in the country until the USCIS has made its decision. That is a Win-Win situation for everyone.

By signing this petition, we support Anuj Garg and his family in their request to be allowed to stay in the country until the pending petition has been decided. In this way they can continue to add to our community while the wheels of government slowly turn. We thereby kindly request you to represent us and the Garg family with the above-mentioned issues to the relevant authorities.

Address West Seattle Zip Code 98116 Anuj is a wonderful person, a hard worker and good friend. It would be unfair to make him, his wife Anuda and their baby boy, Eashan, leave the country due to a delay in reviewing their paperwork, which they submitted

Please treat the legal immigrants with compassion. They have worked hard to earn this privilege. This will also give an incentive to people to use the legal route instead of entering US as illegal immigrants.
