Support for a Pedestrian Path sign now

The Bikeway Master Plan calls for a pedestrian path to be built where a temporary dirt path is now closed. Instead of at least keeping the path open, Facilities Management has chosen to close down the path and scrap plans for a pedestrian path to be built their. Their excuses have kept changing for doing so and have now settled on the danger of foul balls from the baseball field hitting students. If that was the case sidewalks wouldn't be built around baseball diamonds in city parks. Furthermore, if that was the case why did Facilities Management ever open the path to begin with? And why have their excuses for closing the path changed when faced with scrutiny?
We feel more unsafe being forced to cross a busy street illegally through a parking lot in order to get to campus.

By signing this petition we are asking Facilities Management to stop their mismanagement and at least re-open the path and consider building one as the Bikeway Master Plan recommends. To do otherwise would be to malign the interests of the students, discourage students from biking, walking, using public transit, overly burden low-income students who don't drive, and stop CSUS's transition into a Green Campus.

Reopening the pedestrian path at CSUS will allow students to go to school and save the environment from another car on the road.

That walk way is the easiest way to get from the lightrail station on 65th to the campus without it its a long walk or you have to take a bus.

CSUS should be setting an example for other universities to follow not the other way around. Having a shuttle bus or a bike path connecting the Light Rail station to campus is an absolutely common sense idea. Let's get this done.
