Support Border Controls and Fair Immigration Laws sign now

Current immigration law only allows 5,000 legal immigrants annually across our southern border. When you consider that our economy depends upon being able to hire several hundred thousand migrant workers annually, and that both the immigrants' needs and ours, coupled with this antiquated quota, causes otherwise law abiding people to have to become criminals by enterring our country illegally, and that many of them die trying, then it is obvious that the law needs to be changed. By raising the immigration ceiling to 500,000 annually, the vast majority of those immigrants currently enterring the country illegally will choose to do so legally. That will make it possible to know who is in our country, where they are located, and to both tax thier wages and make certain that they are not taken advantage of by unscrupulous employers.

This does not guarantee that they will be able to enter the country as that will be determined by the results of the Department of Homeland Security's investigation. But, the opportunity will be there for all good hard-working people who want to improve thier own lives as well as those of thier families.

In addition to this, to adequately defend our borders, the U.S. Border Patrol needs an additional 10,000 new Border Patrol Agents within the next two years, even if retired USBP personnel have to be brought back on an emergency recall to train them all. Also, they need an increased budget to allow for new weapons, vehicles, uniforms, state-of-the-art surveillance equipment and competitive salaries. They are our first line of defense, and we need to acknowledge this by properly funding thier operations.

Likewise, the Department of Homeland Security must be increased to process the higher number of immigrants applying for legal admission to the United States, and to deal with the terrorist and criminal elements who will still try to enter our nation illegally.

And, finally, it should never be necessary for private citizens to endanger thier lives by having to do the job of protecting our nation's borders, such as the Minutemen have felt compelled to do. Many of them are retired and elderly Americans who have earned thier rest, and yet feel compelled to serve once again in this way. This is a job for professionals. Like the original Minutemen, these often minimally trained amatuers are forced to hold the line once again.

With your signature, and that of your friends and loved ones, we will send a clear and uncompromising message to the U.S Congress that it is time to change these unjust immigration laws and to provide for the swift and adequate defense of our nation's borders.
