Stop PJHS From Deleting MySpaces sign now

Placerita Junior High School (PJHS) has been constantly deleting students' MySpaces on MySpace.com. We understand that they care... but there are a few hit points that are not nessecary.

1) Students' after-school life is nothing that PJHS should be a part of.
2) Students' PARENTS are at full rights to decide what websites their child(ren) visit or do not visit.
3) Having profiles/communities/blogs deleted without bringing it up to the profile/community/blog (p/c/b) owner's attention is NOT respecting the rights of others.

(1) AFTER SCHOOL - Students' after-school life is nothing that PJHS should be a part of. Whatever students choose to do, if it includes the net or simply going outside, should be private and respected by the school. PJHS is invading privacy by having MySpace profiles deleted. If the p/c/b owner decides or agrees to have his/her p/c/b deleted, they may do so. The p/c/b owner has full rights of their p/c/b.

(2) PARENTS - Students' parents are at full rights to decide what websites their child(ren) visit or do not visit. PJHS staff and/or administration is not in charge of what their students visit at home. If parents are not pleased with what their child(ren) visit at home, it is the parents' choice to handle that issue with their child(ren). PJHS is also not responsible for taking away other student's and parent's privacy at home. Parents are entitled to do their job by mainting their child(ren)'s web-visiting, not PJHS.

(3) DELETION - Having profiles/communities/blogs deleted without bringing it up to the profile/community/blog (p/c/b) owner's attention is NOT respecting the rights of others. When PJHS deletes a p/c/b, not only are they breaking this rule, but they also break #1 and #2. Every time PJHS deletes a profile, they take away the freedom of students who are interested in getting back in touch with old friends, web-designing experience, and students who want to blog. Surely there are other sites, but students are at full rights to do what they wish (under parental supervision) at home. Deleting any content of any kind is against student's and parent's rights.

PJHS is, though, entitled of contact the p/c/b owner, or parents, about their MySpace if they wish. But it is against our (and their) rights to DELETE MySpaces of any kind, at any time.
