Water, Water EverywhereBut All the Fish May Be Gone

"Researchers have seen the future, and the ocean wildlife is gone. So says a newly published study in the journal Science, which warns that the world's wild-caught seafood fisheries could collapse by 2048 if current commercial fishing patterns continue. But it doesnt have to happen. Seafood can be caught and farmed in responsible, sustainable ways. And you can help by only eating seafood that is." - Monterey Bay Aquarium

The ocean's fish supply is in desperate need of help! It's already straining to keep its current population, so what will happen when it can no longer sustain itself? The entire ecosystem - of both the ocean and on land - will crash. The current estimated timing left (to 2048) is just on fishing - what about all of the pollution we are putting into the water?

Earth has evolved to sustain only the creatures around it - did the natives of the American plains get salmon from Alaska? No! The ecosystem can only support so much life - not the entire world! There are only so many fish in the sea - and we are not the only creatures who rely on fish! If all of the fish go, so do the whales, dolphins, seals, sharks, Sea Otters, invertebrates, coral, and every other organism both in the sea and on land. If the fish are gone...the ecosystem would become out of balance, and eventually, the human race would fall extinct.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium has a printable guide on what fish you should and should not eat. Go to their homepage and print it off.

so long as fishing is done in moderation there is nothing wrong with it. to overfish an area is like overfarming land-nothing grows there after awhile. It's better to practice planned fishing and replenishing so the ocean's resources aren't depleted for t
