Stop Over Fishing sign now

The Great Barrier Reef is well known as a reef stretching over 2,600 KM! The Great Barrier Reef's environmental problems include water quality from runoff, climate change and mass coral bleaching, cyclic outbreaks of the crown-of-thorns starfish, overfishing, and shipping accidents. But today I am only going to talk about one of these problems, overfishing.
Statistics show that over four-thousand tonnes of fish are caught by nets alone in the Great Barrier Reef every year.
Although there is over 2,600 KM of reef scientists still say that within twenty years, up to a half of the Great Barrier Reef will be gone.
