Stop Internet Censoring sign now

In 2000, Congress passed a law that requires all school libraries to have Internet Filters. These so-called filters are meant to "protect" kids from the evils of the internet. What the government doesn't realize is that they are more of a hassle than what they can actually do. 99\% of students know how to by-pass these filters using proxies and other methods. Most school librarians are unaware of what the students are doing.

In reality, these filters cause more trouble than what they are supposed to do. Many students that use the library during class for research for their essays get blocked by mediocre words such as "adult" and "abortion."

These filters are also violating our 1st Ammendment Right. Our Freedom of Speech should consider the forcing of these filters on students illegal.

We the students ask that you revoke the law that forces schools to install these filters. The internet is a place of free thought, and by censoring it, the government is turning into a communistic society.
