Stop Foie Gras sign now

We, the patrons of our common good and undertakers of humanity, pledge herewith to underscore the implicit importance of conserving the environment through direct, conscious efforts in our everyday lifestyle, in order to protect the lives of all complete, life-given organisms that depend on it for survival.

We note the methods which are employed in certain countries, most notably, France, to cultivate foie gras, a preposterously termed 'delicacy' by many. These acts have been heard and read, but nothing will stir us more deeply than to know the extent to which these acts have become a grossly barbaric and fundamentally unethical practise that the consumer sadly knows little or nothing about.

A beatiful organism, the duck, is a highly aesthetically pleasing animal that beautifies and roams our earth-- consider how this can become a crippled, bleeding, semi-living corpse, struggling to mantain a fraction of its dear life. As mice and flies guzzle at its open wound, it can do nothing. Pain has numbed them. Home to them is confined to a fixed metal grilles, not horizons, nor clear blue lakes.

Such thoughts frighten and shock, but they persist. We need to call out-- cry out; foie gras is not food: foie gras is genocide and murder. We cannot allow an animal to be captured, tortured to its death in order for its petty consumers to enjoy a designer plate of undignified corpse.

We live in a civilised age. Yet the act of allowing a conscious animal to suffer bouts of trauma through pumping massive amounts of food in its stomach is tantamount to abuse to the highest degree-- no human in the entire history of mankind must ever tolerate lavishly eating a pained animal that was tortured its entire life. Because of this, more must come to know of the gore behind foie gras.

This tragedy of the commons tells us there is little we can do. But by signing this petition, we pledge community in increasing awareness and our views toward this. The cultivators of foie gras have to be told there is no room for such a product.

When the buying stops, the rearing will, too.
