SOS for the protection of India`s Wildlife from being robbed sign now

India`s wildlife like every other nation is under extreme pressure from being driven into extinction.

India has one of the best protection laws and rules for the protection and conservation of its wildlife, but despite that we have seen how the nation`s wealth is being robbed out and smuggled to the nook and corners of the Globe for a demand for all sort of illegal activities.

And now India`s wildlife is facing a unique threat from not the 'poacher' but from 'scientists'.

Please see the news link below:
Czech entomologists arrested in India

The arrest of a senior scientist from a National Park in West Bengal collecting species illegally should be dealt with according to the law and NO PARDON should be accorded in this regard.

Here is the PARDON petition posted online:
Requesting the release of Dr. Petr vбcha, (Senior Scientist at Institute of Entomology, Academy of Sciences of Czech Republic) arrested in Singalila National Park, Darjeeling (West Bengal).

Whatever be the reason for collection of the species, the fact that Wildlife is being robbed out of a protected area is a matter of same concern as to the ever increasing trend of poaching.

It may be noted that however good or noble the intentions may have been of the scientist which may go in the long run to improve our environment (if we are to believe a section of his defenders) but the offense should be treated as per law.

Ironically another German tourist was found committing the same offense (collecting bugs and beetles illegally) in the state of Arunachal Pradesh who was fortunate enough to have been spared the judicial trial as he was let of by the council with a warning.

We cannot allow our National Parks to become play grounds for scientific research. Even a dead leaf cannot be taken out of the National park and doing so if a violation.

In the past there have been many cases of PARDONS accorded for the elite and the educated people for wildlife crimes in India which has demoralized the efforts of the enforcement agencies, the public in general and the sentiments of those involved in wildlife conservation and environmental crusades.

The trial of the accused scientist should serve as a model for others.

Those demanding a pardon for the offender fail to understand that the INDIAN LAWS are not just meant for a weaker section of the people but for all.
From the common man to the elite scientist all fall under the same category who are expected to respect and show compassion to India`s wildlife whilst in India.

For the Indian citizens and organisations who are pleading and creating petitions to defend the accused scientist, I would like to point out that under the Constitution of India, Article 51A Fundamental duties, it reads,

"It shall be the duty of every citizen of India -(g) to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wild life, and to have compassion for living creatures".

Therefore we seek the attention of the Hon`ble Prime minister of India, Shri Manmohan Singh who had taken special interest in preserving India`s wildlife in crisis many times to take strict action against anyone found guilty of any crimes, offenses irrelevant of his/ her identity.
