Saviola to Villa sign now

Aston Villa Football Club conquered the world of football in 1982. As a fan of a club with such a rich historical heritage it upsets me to find Aston Villa currently in a state of decline. Finishing a disappointing tenth in the season 2004-5, Aston Villa have lost the respect of their peers with teams like Tottenham and Everton now competing to join the ranks of Englands finest. While Aston Villa are far from being in a state of disarray, possessing a great manager in David OLeary and a good starting XI, the squad needs serious refining if a serious challenge is to be mounted for European football, the ultimate goal of a club of Aston Villas size.
In recent weeks there has been an assertion of power by fans all over the country showing that despite having little say in the day-to-day running of the club, their cooperation is a necessary part of the smooth running of a football club. This is a point clarified by the Lee Bowyer incident involving the fans of local rivals Birmingham City. Despite being a fierce rival, there is much we can learn from our neighbours.
If we join together to urge the board for the signing of Javier Saviola of Barcelona, perhaps the board will acknowledge the will of the fans of the club, appreciating that at the end of the day the business success of the club relies on the morale of the fans whose money it is that maintains the club. Javier Saviola is a player of the highest calibre, scoring four goals in seven appearances for Monaco in their Champions League Campaign last season, and has recently been linked with a move to West Brom (see skysports website), a club I would like to believe are inferior to ourselves. Surely if pressure is exerted then we could at least force a tentative enquiry from our board.
Please take the time to sign this petition and pass the message on to your fellow fans of Aston Villa Football Club. You never know, we could make a difference.

Even Gordon Brown has had to drop rigid fiscal prudence in favour of the odd bit of borrowing. Surely we should be looking at targeted expenditure (for both transfer fees and wages) if the targets will take the club forward (and thus generate more revenue

Forest fan here...Anyway, I've always liked the Villa for some reason. And Saviola, when it comes to goal poaching, is probably the best in the world. If Villa get him, and a coupe of other top players, they will surely be a top 6 club.

I believe this is the kind of player we need to show some ambition, something sadly lacking at the moment.
