SAVE TORONTO MAPLE LEAF GARDENS sign now

Remember Elvis April 2 1957 in his first concert out of the United States? The Beatles in 1964, 1965 & 1966? How about one of the 11 Stanley Cups from 1932-1967? The first annual NHL All-Star game in 1947?

Maybe you remember the time The Who performed what was supposed to be their last concert in December of 1982 and was filmed for the concert film The Who Rocks America 1982. Or The Video The Reflex by Duran Duran being shot at Maple Leaf Gardens in March 1984?

How about that last sad goodbye game to the old girl Her Majesty Maple Leaf Gardens on February 13, 1999 when the 67 year tradition ended. The Leafs suffering a 6-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. Former (awesome leaf) #93 Doug Gilmour scored a fluke goal in that game and notorious tough guy Bob Probert scored the final NHL goal in Maple Leaf Garden history during the third period. During the emotional post-game ceremony, legendary Canadian singer Anne Murray performed The Maple Leaf Forever, clad in a Leafs jersey. I DO! I was there with tears in my eyes.
The Leafs were so popular that the team sold out every game from 1946-1999

Everyone has their own memory of what Maple Leaf Gardens means to them.
Do you want that memory, that symbol of TORONTO, that historic building replaced by a parking lot?? A parking lot for yet another GROCERY SUPERSTORE?? For all the wonderful moments and decades the old girl brought us so much joy, happiness and beautiful memories does she really deserve that???
Everyone around the world knows where Maple leaf Gardens is. Taking her away would be like taking the nose off Toronto!

SPEAK OUT LOVERS OF THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAF GARDENS! SAVE THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAF GARDENS. TELL THEM THE PEOPLE OF TORONTO AND THE WORLD WANT TO SEE THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAF GARDENS DECLARED A HISTORIC MONUMENT OR THE LIKE AND STOP THE DEMOLISION OF IT!
