Save TNA Wrestling sign now

Dear TNA Wrestling,

This is not a rant, a screed, or a tirade. This is a plea.

You see, we, your fans, love wrestling. We love the action, we love the spectacle, and we love the performers. We are fans of TNA because TNA has always strived to give the fans what we love. Sure, there were growing pains and goofs, but for the most part, TNA lived up to its slogan, We Are Wrestling.

But recently, TNA has started to stray from its roots. Wrestling seems to have become a side-note to the story lines, and long-time TNA wrestlers have been treated poorly. In an attempt to emulate the success of the WWE, TNA seems to be trying to imitate the WWE and its Sports Entertainment style of show.

Sports Entertainment is not something we want to see TNA become. It emphasizes the story lines over the wrestling action to the point where the in-ring action is merely an excuse to provide us with more stories. The in-ring wrestling action should be central to the shows.

The TNA iMPACT! ratings prove this out. One of the greatest episodes of iMPACT! came earlier this year when we saw one single hour-long match dominate the entire show. It was a ratings blockbuster. A later episode was dominated by the story line of one wrestlers martial problems, and the in-ring wrestling action was limited to just two short matches. The ratings dropped when the show concentrated on the story.

TNA has a lot of homegrown talent, and that talent is being ignored in order to bring in the latest WWE mid-card cast-off or celebrity athlete. Talented wrestlers like Samoa Joe, Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Jerry Lynn, Sonjay Dutt, and so many others are struggling to get decent treatment, while NFL troublemakers are getting main-event pushes. It seems unfair to the wrestlers who have worked so hard to get TNA to where it is today. Those hard-working performers deserve not only some of the credit for TNAs success, but also some spotlight time with decent programs, pushes and championship reigns.

We fans have decided to make ourselves heard, and heard in the only way that will get TNA managements attention. Until things improve, we will no longer purchase or watch TNA pay-per-view events, nor will we purchase or watch the DVDs of said events.

Were not attacking any one person or decision, we just want to see TNA succeed and thrive. If TNA listens to its fans, it may yet become the greatest, most popular wrestling promotion around. If TNA turns a deaf ear and doesnt listen to those who support it, it is destined to become a footnote in wrestling history, another video catalog for the WWE archives.
