Save the swimming pool in the Welsh Institute of Sports in Cardiff sign now

As a member (Winner) of the Welsh Institute of Sport in Cardiff, I understand that the pool at the Institute is once again under review, which means, I believe, to be under threat of closure.
As you may be aware, it was necessary some four years ago to protest about a suggested closure of the swimming pool at the Welsh Institute of Sport. All users and members were unanimous at that time in their opposition to any suggestion that the pool would close permanently or the pool area undergoes a change of use in any way.
I have recently written to the governing bodies of the regular users of the Welsh Institute of Sport, listed below, to make them aware that as the new Sports Village nears completion in Cardiff Bay and the new swimming pool is made available to the public and to other sporting bodies, the swimming pool at the Welsh Institute of Sport may close.

This is what the Winners have been led to believe for some time now!

The swimming pool at the Welsh Institute of Sport not only serves Cardiff Swimming Club, but also, amongst others Cardiff Rugby Club, Cardiff City Football team, the Welsh rugby and football teams, the Welsh netball team, Cardiff University water polo team, WHALES (disabled swimmers), the Masters Swimming Club and of course the regular members who appreciate the excellent swimming facility in a most convenient part of the city. Several schools (private and L.E.A) also use the pool regularly.

As a centre of sporting excellence, it is inconceivable that the Welsh Institute of Sport would not accommodate a swimming pool.

The new pool due to open in Cardiff Bay, will undoubtedly fulfil its purpose as part of a snow, ice and water theme, but it cannot replace the existing facility, a facility used by such a varied collection of people interested in improving their overall fitness or just using the pool for moderate exercise.
As a daily swimmer at the Welsh Institute of Sport I will endeavour, once again, to rally as much support as possible to keep the swimming pool open.

When you think of the size of City of Cardiff Swimming Club, and it's oversubscribed, you can't afford to close a pool in Cardiff, especially since we're limited with the leisure pool time we can have. I don't see, nor understand, any justification in clo

Its a brilliant pool and although the new pool in the bay will be great, the pool at WIS will still hold a key part in swimming in Cardiff. Im sure every one (including myself) at cardiff swimming club will want this pool kept open!

I love to swim and I live right next to the Welsh institute - it would be an absolute pain to go all the way to Cardiff bay - which I detest by the way.

It would be a tragic oversight to close the pool. I have a neurological condition and swimming offers me great relief. I use the pool several times a week. Save our pool!

I and several friends swim at this pool because it is nearby, walking distance for me and I know it is good for my health and makes me feel happier. Please don't close it,as I wouldn't use a pool that was further away so often.
