Revoke the Detroit Lions' Thanksgiving Day Game sign now

Dear Mr. Goodell:
We, the Undersigned NFL Fans believe the Detroit Lions, with their 2-8 record, and their god-awful performance during the 2008-09 Season (0-16), should have their rights to the Thanksgiving day game revoked in favor of teams who will perform better and provide more revenue. They have been the joke of the National Football League for years, and have finished with records of .500 or below since the 1998-99 season. Their performance is an insult to the high standards of the NFL, and their Thanksgiving Day game should be given to a team that has performed to a higher level in recent years. Below is the records of the Detroit Lions since that 1998-99 Season.
Season League Division Finish W L T
1998-99 NFL NFC Central 4th 5 11 0
1999-20 NFL NFC Central 3rd 8 8 0
2000-01 NFL NFC Central 4th 9 7 0
2001-02 NFL NFC Central 5th 2 14 0
2002-03 NFL NFC North 4th 3 13 0
2003-04 NFL NFC North 4th 5 11 0
2004-05 NFL NFC North 3rd 6 10 0
2005-06 NFL NFC North 3rd 5 11 0
2006-07 NFL NFC North 4th 3 13 0
2007-08 NFL NFC North 3rd 7 9 0
2008-09 NFL NFC North 4th 0 16 0

As you can plainly see, the Detroit Lions have performed dismally for the last decade, and yet have still been given the Thanksgiving Day game due to their Franchise History. That is not right. The Thanksgiving Day games are, aside from entertainment, meant to showcase the NFL.What good does that do if there is a terrible team playing?

I urge you to consider at least taking away the game from them until they turn their performance around, at which time it may or may not be returned to them.

The NFL would be well served to grant the game to a team who is performing better; while it is hard, if not impossible to determine how a team will do during a season before the season while making a schedule, however the teams who performed well the previous season should be granted the game for the next season; this would create a rotating schedule of Thanksgiving Day games, with the 6 best teams playing on this "sacred day of Football," as it is known among some Americans. This is merely one solution. There are many acceptable solutions.
