As an American taxpayer, I wish to offer my strong support for the transferring of Denise (Dee) Henderson #11401-041, currently incarcerated in the Womens Federal Correctional Camp in Pekin, IL to MCP Shakopee Womans Prison, located in Minnesota.

We have been informed by Jerry Clay MN DOC that there are two ways that a federal inmate can serve time in a MN correctional facility. The first is the BOP Exchange Program; under which a federal inmate and a state inmate are exchanged between systems. The other is the Income Contract Program, under which the federal government contracts with the state to pay for incarcerating the inmate in a state prison where there is reasonable cause to believe there can be a more positive outcome from the rehabilitation of an inmate.

I would like to request that she be transferred to that facility as soon as possible. I offer the following rationale for transferring Dee Henderson to MCP Shakopee Womans Prison facility:

1) Denise (Dee) Henderson has two children Amanda Tatyana, a 9-year-old with Cerebral Palsy whom Dee and her second husband adopted from a Russian orphanage in 1997. Dee also has a 14-year-old son, Andy, with sole legal and physical custody from her first marriage.

2) Amanda is already exhibiting signs of becoming emotionally impaired. Dee has been the primary caregiver for Amanda and her presence in Amanda life is considered critical by virtually every physician, psychologist and social worker that has interacted with Amanda over the past seven years. Amanda has made great progress during her time under Dees care and all fear that Amandas inability to frequently interact with her mother will slow or even reverse her progress to a productive adult.

3) Dee was sentenced to 46 months in Pekin, IL which is 7 hours (350 miles) away from the familys home. Both children have extra curricular activities on the weekends (Amandas therapy and Andys education and sports) which would be difficult to miss, making such a long distance to see their mom almost impossible during the school year.

4) The removal of Dee from Amandas life as primary caretaker, and the effect on Andy (her son), should he returned to his fathers custody, will make the overall consequences of Dees sentence extremely detrimental to her children.. Location of Dee close to her children will improve Dees ability to continue as the motivating force in their lives facilitating a more complete rehabilitation for Dee while not imposing undue hardships on her young minor children.

5) I feel that the incarceration of Dee Henderson in a location that is not reasonably convenient for her children is a inappropriate sentence given the overall nature of her crime, and unnecessarily burdensome to her minor children.. By transferring Dee to a facility in Minnesota will ensure that further emotional scaring can be avoided, thereby avoiding potential community and governmental costs of responding to the needs of Dees children, and more equitably serving the needs of the system, family and courts.

I ask for your consideration of transferring Dee Henderson to MCP Shakopee Womans Prison in Minnesota as soon possible.
