The case:
To quote Mr. Harsha Bhogle one of the most sensible commentators around (again strictly my personal opinion)

We preferred a guillotine to a red carpet, a lonely waiting room go to a warm handshake.

We have seen it happening more than once and in different sporting arenas, be it the popular ones like Cricket (Kambli, Kumble, Srinath & now Ganguly himself) & hockey (Ashish Balal- the best ever goal keeper for India, Dhanraj Pillay) or the lesser known Table-tennis (Chetan Baboor), Badminton (P. Gopichand) or Archery (Limbaram- Remember who?). The point is self-evident while we have been looking other way sport has been kidnapped. I pay my deepest tributes to anybody who can name five functional national sports associations/bodies not headed by a politician (or their offspring(s)) or a bureaucrat (former or otherwise). I understand that what has happened cannot be atoned now. But I feel strongly that its about time we should make errands for the future. The two main culprits in my opinion are:

1. Government forwell we can go tome lengths lets limit ourselves here for the sake of size for just one evil greatest of em all- Politicization.

2. Media: Which either becomes revengeful (when a player signs with other channel and makes a determined effort to cast him as a Mujrim by analyzing his each stroke with ex-players (forced into premature retirement or looking for return of good Ol glorious days) by re-re-& re-running choicest footage of his mistakes to create impressions that are way different from truth or becomes over-enthusiastic (thirty hours of live programming on Tendulkars 35th hundred !!!) or at time even further to get better TRPs. And yes, declare that all those who support him are from Bengal and would go any lengths to get a quote from Flintoff or a Waugh about how bad & lazy and vain Lord Snooty is. It does not makes a bit of difference to them that may be the Waugh(s) and the Flintoff(s) are sour to the soul after getting more than full return from the Indian whom they expected to flinch at their mere sights.

This petition is addressed to two:

1. To the Government of India demanding:

a. Blanket ban on politicians and bureaucrats holding any posts in sports bodies to allow for de-politicization & professionalization of sports.
b. Complete transparency in running & administration of various sports bodies.
c. Accountability of all these to an Independent sports authority chosen solely on sporting merit.

2. The media demanding restraint.

By signing this petition we pledge that in case this petition goes unheard those of us who have chance to do so whould use Right to Information act to bring out in open every dirty aspect until the filth is removed, and accountability & transparency are ensured and that those people & efforts would be supported as much as possible by rest of us.

For the Media by pledging to hit them where it hurts them most- By taking a personal vow not to buy products which advertise and sponsor such channels until they make amends.
