Re: Resignation of Olivia Chow, City of Toronto Councillor

We the undersigned hereby respectfully request the immediate resignation of the City of Toronto Councilor, Ms. Olivia Chow, who on December 6, 2004 made a motion to have the liquor license application pertaining to 499 King Street West (Touch Lounge & Dining) quashed during a city council meeting.

Ms. Chow, without any prior knowledge or discussions (pertaining to the new business) with the owner of the above noted establishment perjured herself and maliciously slandered and defamed the owner of Touch Lounge & Dining at 499 King Street West to fellow city councilors and stating for the record that the establishment known as 499 King Street West was in fact "pretending to open as a restaurant, when in fact it's going to open as a nightclub".

Ms. Chow has never once step foot into this establishment, nor has she even attempted to contact and discuss this liquor license application or the nature of the business with the owner and/or managers of this restaurant to find out the truth. She has on numerous occasions been invited to come to our establishment but there has been no contact made by herself or her office with regard to this.

She has used her powers of office maliciously, willfully and slanderously against the owner of Touch Lounge & Dining at 499 King Street West in order to do "favours" for a friend who resides in the building south of the above noted establishment and has written a letter of complaint to the AGCO (Alcohol and Gaming Commision of Ontario) with respect to the liquor license application for 499 King Street West.

This type of conduct is an abuse of power and trust for the office and title she holds, and there is no other alternative but for her to immediately resign her postion and step down as City Councilor.

Ms. Chow openly and maliciously discussed a liquor license application before city council on December 6th, 2004 prior to the actual hearing of Tounge Lounge & Dining before the Alchol Gaming Commission of Ontario scheduled for December 20, 2004.

She is not looking out for the best interest of the community she represents, on the interests of her friends and associates. This abuse of power on her behalf MUST be STOPPED!

The December 6, 2004 transcripts is available through the City of Toronto Clerks office.
