Release "So You Think You Can Dance" to DVD sign now

Three seasons of this highly successful program have aired, and have since been unavailable to the public by permissible means (except when re-broadcasted on very rare occasions). Short clips of the series that have been uploaded to the popular video-sharing network YouTube by an abundance of users have been subsequently removed by Dick Clark Productions. Taking this into consideration, DCP has made it virtually impossible for many fans of the series to relive their favorite moments, or have entire seasons on hand for viewing at their convenience.

Weighing the above information, it would appear that DCP has no interest in generating revenue from the series from fans who are still willing to dish out money long after the original broadcast has come to an end. It doesn't make a lot of sense for them to refuse to make the series available to fans themselves, but force the removal of footage that fans have shared with each other, does it? Nobody is making money off of this potential cash cow.

If it is not practical for DCP to mass produce and distribute full-season DVDs to video outlets and retailers, they could be sold online via the Fox website. Also, if it is more reasonable, DCP could release only the most popular seasons, Season Two and Season Three, unless demand for a Season One release grows.

Much of the appeal of these DVDs belongs to the idea of unseen footage being included as "extras". The majority of enthusiastic fans would be willing to pay the full price of the DVD for this perk alone. Such "extras" might include rehearsal footage, tour performances, extended pre-performance clips, interviews with the dancers, judges, and choreographers, auditions which had not been aired, etc. This concept adds greatly to the intrigue.

It is with much hope and anticipation that we ask Dick Clark Productions, Simon Fuller, and Nigel Lythgoe to reconsider their reluctance to release the series to DVD. Fans have voiced their desire for DVD box sets for some time, and the series has only grown more popular and continues to garner an increasingly large audience. If the corporation already has plans to release season DVDs in the future, we ask that they announce the possibility, to put an end to fruitless begging, and petitions like this. Thank you very much.
