Release Baktiar and allow him to stay sign now

Baktiar Kadir, 34, has lived in the East Kent area for the past 8 years and his whole sense of purpose, meaning in life and identity is embedded in his life here in Dover. However, last Thursday (15th May), Baktiar attended Immigration at Folkestone to sign in as he usually does every month, and was then informed that he would be detained with the aim of removing him from the country back to Northern Iraq - Kurdistan. He is currently detained in the Dover Removal Centre.

During the past 8 years, Baktiar has complied rigorously with all regulations placed upon him by Immigration. He has signed in every month, remained entirely transparent about his whereabouts and his activities, after being given permission to work has been employed continuously whilst paying tax and national insurance just like any citizen, has not once broken the law and has lived his life in a moral and respectable way. Baktiar has embraced the English culture and has become a very popular and much loved member of the Dover community. Baktiar has a very sincere and kind heart and this is demonstrated by the wide and far reaching circle of friends that he has touched the lives of and also by the work he has committed himself to by working for Migrant Helpline and assisting others who are in a very similar unfortunate position to himself.

He has been the model citizen without citizenship and has been the ultimate opposite of what the media stereotypes asylum seekers to be. Baktiars entire family have been murdered and so he is being forced to return to no-one and nothing but excruciating memories and also the constant fear of being persecuted by the oppressive government he once rebelled against. He genuinely feels that he would rather end his life than be returned to his country.

This petition asks for the immediate release of Baktiar from detainment and for the Home Office to allow Baktiar to stay in this country.
