Red Raider Nation Supports Mike Leach sign now

The RED RAIDER NATION hereby asserts that certain members of the Texas Tech University administration acted unfairly in the termination of Mike Leach as its football coach. This includes, but is not limited to, Kent Hance as Chancellor, Guy Bailey as President, and Gerald Myers as Athletic Director. We believe it is possible they:

1. Made accusations against Mike Leach without proof of evidence that he violated university rules or standards;
2. Failed to conduct a full, proper and unbiased investigation, and upon notice of his suspension, provided absolutely no process regarding such allegations;
3. Failed to properly represent their constituency;
4. Failed their fiduciary responsibility;
5. Have inconsistent interpretations of the term insubordination, and apply inconsistent punishment for any alleged act of insubordination;
6. Caused harm to the University through national public embarrassment and humiliation;
7. Placed the University at financial risk for a potential multi-million dollar lawsuit or settlement due to an unlawful termination;
8. Breached University rules for sensible conduct and standards;
9. Possibly engaged in irresponsible dealings with boosters regarding the negotiation of Mike Leachs contract in last 2008 and early 2009; and
10. Probably caused future financial burden to the University through cancellation of season tickets, revocation of pledged capital contributions, termination of donations and increased debt because of angry fans opposed to the Universitys actions.

We ask that the members of the Texas Tech University Board of Regents first and foremost immediately re-instate Mike Leach as head football coach of the University, offer a public apology to Mike Leach, the University, its students, fans, and supporters for this regrettable situation. It is believed that the re-hiring of Mike Leach will preclude the University from sustaining a loss of millions of dollars in an unlawful termination lawsuit, and further, stem the loss of capital contributions. The University should act swiftly and immediately and conduct a full and unbiased independent investigation to determine if anyone within the Universitys administration involved in this action breached any rules or standards and that proper disciplinary action and penalties be administered.
