Put an End to the Blatant Disrespect and General Incompetence of Cynthia Cameros sign now

Please be advised that we are formally registering a complaint against Professor Cameros. As paying customers and severely disgruntled students of Metropolitan College, we hereby request that Professor Cameros be prohibited from continuing as our teacher of Media Economics.

We are new Media Management graduate students at Metropolitan College. On Saturday, September 9, 2006 we attended our first Media, Economics and Finance course taught by Professor Cameros. While we are quite pleased with the programs curriculum and the institution overall, it is with great reluctance that we must inform you of the inexcusable student treatment and inappropriate practices of Professor Cameros. Every reasonable effort has been made by the students to deal with these issues in an amicable and peaceful fashion, but all to no avail. Her behavior, though it may appear to be mundane and innocuous, is counterproductive, creates a hostile environment, and grossly affects the efficiency of what should be a comprehensible course. In addition, we feel much of this puts this schools unique academic standing and the education of its student body at risk. Because this is a monumental time and monetary investment for the vast majority of the students, it is in everyones best interest for us to do everything in our power to avert an escalating teacher/student crisis.

We must express our concern regarding the manner in which Professor Cameros delivered September 9ths and subsequent PowerPoint-taught lessons in this class. While we understand, and understood then, that this is an accelerated program, we requested that she (a) allow the students time to jot down information before moving forward, as we are here to gain insight into a previously unfamiliar subject-matter i.e., many of us have no other point of reference from which to build; and (b) speak clearly and louder; even when straining to hear her, many of us could not.

In the interest of sparing the department head with what began as a minor issue, an e-mail was sent directly to Professor Cameros requesting that she merely forward to her students the PowerPoint presentation - a simple and standard request, or so we thought. It was never a question of our comprehension, as she subsequently implied, but simply a request that we actually get to see what she intended for us to see, but which she hastily presented and inaudibly explained in class. In response to said request, Professor Cameros (with a demeaning undertone) suggested that anyone who did not understand "withdraw from the media economics course and take two undergraduate microeconomics and macroeconomics courses in preparation." We were not asking for a tutorial or that she, as she put it, "review two semesters worth of material in one or two classes"; we just wanted to actually see the presentation, especially since her explanation of the presentation was unintelligible.

On Saturday, September 23rd, during class, a student asked her a question, and, in response, Professor Cameros told the student that she was having an outburst and summoned school security to have that student escorted from the class. This is just one demeaning and publicly condescending way in which she has communicated with us.

We appeal to you with a view toward resolving this problem and hope you will take this complaint in the helpful spirit in which it is meant, but this must stop, and it must stop NOW!
