Protest Miami-Dade Commissioners sign now

*This petition is written in Spanish below.

This is a petition to protest against Miami-Dade Commissioners that voted for Bouygues Travaux Publics, a subsidiary of the giant French construction company, Bouygues Construction, to head the efforts to construct a tunnel under Biscayne Bay to the Port of Miami. The construction company involved has partnered with the communist island of Cuba on 11 occasions to build luxurious hotels not available to residents on the island. Some of those hotels are built on land taken illegally from the Cuban people. Also, Bouygues Construction ranks 3rd in joint-ventures with the murderous communist government. Out of all the qualified companies to pick from, Miami-Dade Commissioners have decided by a vote of 9-3 that this company will head the project.

The commissioners below voted in favor of allowing this company to head the construction of the Port of Miami tunnel. The commissioners with an asterisk (*) by their name are due for re-election in November 2008. The others are up for re-election in November 2010.

1. * Carlos Gimenez (Cuban-American) District 7
2. * Dennis Moss District 9
3. * Bruno Barreiro (Cuban-American) District 5
4. Jose Pepe Diaz (Cuban-American) District 12
5. * Audrey Edmonson District 3
6. Sally Heyman District 4
7. * Barbara Jordan District 1
8. Dorrin Rolle District 2
9. Katy Sorensen District 8

Commissioners Javier Souto (District 10), Natacha Seijas (District 13), and Rebecca Sosa (District 6) all voted against the selection of Bouygues Travaux Publics as the company who will head the construction of the Port of Miami tunnel. They are all Cuban-Americans and have not forgotten where they came from and all of the adversities they overcame due to their homeland falling to communism. As a matter of fact, when commissioners were casting their votes, Commissioner Javier Souto, a Bay of Pigs veteran, mentioned the ties this French firm has with the communist island before he cast his vote against the company.

Lets send a message to the Miami-Dade Commissioners who voted in favor of this company by reminding them who put them in power by voting against them on your November 2008 ballot. Let your voice be heard.

1. Carlos Gimenez (Cuban-American) District 7
2. * Dennis Moss District 9
3. * Bruno Barreiro (Cuban-American) District 5
4. Jose Pepe Diaz (Cuban-American) District 12
5. * Audrey Edmonson District 3
6. Sally Heyman District 4
7. * Barbara Jordan District 1
8. Dorrin Rolle District 2
9. Katy Sorensen District 8
