Franзais (Please see below for English):

English:
This petition is addressed to all Canadian political party leaders.

The CRTC has decided not to renew CHOI-FMs radio broadcasting license.
Who, in his or her role as leader of a Canadian political party, will have the courage to address the CRTC concerning this matter? Or are we to consider the CRTC an autonomous power answering perhaps only to the Queen? How, in democratic Canada, does the CRTC muster the power to close a thriving enterprise at a time when jobs are so difficult to create?

We find anomalous that a government agency sentence a media to death because of the scandals that occurred recently in Quebec city and because certain of these medias broadcasters refuse to accept or submit to political authority.

We find anomalous that radios be censored by a government agency designed to regulate them while nobody yields the power to shut down a newspaper for the content of its columns. When not busy listening to CHOI-FM, do the CRTC executives measure the stream of filth that flows through the TV networks also under their vigilance?

Will the political parties succeed in putting pressure on the CRTC before CHOI-FMs employees lose their jobs and its advertisers lose their investments?

In face of this injustice, we urge the parties and the government to place restraints on the unbounded and arbitrary power of the CRTC, and that they grant to the listeners the right to choose as adult consumers. Consequently, and while eagerly awaiting more ample debate, we ask that CHOI-FMs death sentence be lifted.
