Ardalan Haghverdi Maniyani was born in 1978, in Iran, as a moslem. On 15th of March of 2006 he left Iran for Belarus, legally as a tourist. On his way he has been robbed on Moscow Airport. When he arrived to Minsk he was without money and didn't know what to do. So he contacted the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It had connections with the House of Mercy hotel, belonging to the Russian Orthodox Church, and helped him to get settled there. While he was staying there, he realized that foundations of Christianity were exactly the same that he felt in his conscience, and expressed his wish to convert to the local priest and received Jesus Christ in his heart. Later he has been baptized in accordance to the Christian Orthodox customs. He was also issued a certificate that confirmed his baptism and his conversion. But the administration of that hotel informed the Iranian Embassy that he had become Christian. He understood that becoming Christian would mean threat to his life from the Iranian authorities because leaving Islam and becoming Christian in Iran is a crime with death penalty; he realized that Iranian authorities would not let him go anywhere because he had become a traitor in their eyes. So he tried to obtain visa to Poland, the embassy in Minsk granted it to him but on 11th of April, one day before the visa was ready, the police arrested him, on behalf of the Iranians, because they found out he became Christian. They took his passport and all his belongings and they found the documents about his religious conversion. Therefore he couldnt get his polish visa and leave Belarus. He has been forced to stay in Belarus without passport and after his tourist visa expired.
On 17th of August he has been deported to Turkey, Istanbul, where I met him personally, I stayed with him for a week and helped him morally and materially. We tried to apply on Embassies for visa or asylum, but the procedures require too much time and more financial support. After 6 months in exile he has no more money and he is practically on the street and he has nowhere to go. Only his deep faith helped him to survive the worst conditions till now.

With this petition we would like to support his request for political asylum in the Czech Republic or in an other country of the European Community and grant him a permission to leave Turkey legally.
