Pitt Law Graduation Regalia sign now

In the wake of mounting tuition debts, a terrible job market, and the need to pay for the BAR and BAR review courses, the powers that be at our wonderful law school have decided to milk further money from its students by charging us over $77 to RENT our caps and gowns for graduation.

While we find it hard to believe that the individual outfits themselves cost $77, the fact that the university is renting the regalia is an indication that they will be reused in future years. This reuse, coupled with similar fees to future students, makes it clear that this scheme is nothing more than a money-making measure for the law school. Furthermore, this price is even more asinine when compared with the PURCHASE rate for undergraduates of $48, Masters rate of $52, and Doctorate rate of $65.

We as students are suffering enough from the current economic environment. As a result, we strongly suggest that the law school revisit its pricing structure for graduate regalia. There is nothing more shameful than kicking faithful and hardworking students when they are down.
