Petition to Montgomery County Commissioners Regarding the Montgomery County Library policies and membership in the ALA sign now

To the County Commissioners: I support the importance and necessity of the Montgomery County Memorial Library System maintaining affiliation with the American Library Association. I support the current method of book selection used by the Montgomery County Memorial Library System. I believe the library director and his/her staff should have ultimate authority to interpret and apply the selection process. I do not want Commissioners Court to dictate the selection and management of the library collection.

Leave the library alone, already! It's time you realize that your values are not necessarily the values of most library patrons, if not the county itself.

This is a travesty. There are two, main, non-religious or political reasons why this cannot happen.1> The presumption that a majority of people in this county think this way is a BOLD FACED LIE! I have worked in the medical field in this co. for 12 years,

I support the library director and his/her staff selecting books placed in the library. If they are not compatent to select the appropriate books, they should not be holding the position they hold.

The librarians are NOT aliens! Most of them live in M.C., send their kids to M.C. shools, attend church in M.C. They are NOT out to distroy M.C. They are educated profesionals trying to carry out their job discriptions as their contracts stipulate. We the
