Petition to Change BCCI Logo sign now

24th September, 2007 will be a day Indian cricket lovers will treasure forever in their memories, for this is when a band of young, fearless Indians claimed the first ever World T20 Trophy. In all the celebrations, the BCCI logo keeps reappearing and very few of the millions of fans celebrating really understand what the logo is and stands for. It is doubtful many BCCI officials know the history of the logo either.

The logo is an adaptation of "The Most Exalted Order of the Star of India", an order of chivalry founded by Queen Victoria in 1861 to honour Indian Princes and Chiefs, as well as British officers who served in India. The emblem of the Order also appeared on the flag of the Viceroy of India. Appointments to this order were stopped when India gained independence in 1947.

It is not hard to deduce - the BCCI logo is a GLORIFICATION OF A SYMBOL OF THE BRITISH RAJ IN INDIA!!

In this day and age, when India feeds the world's cricket economy, and Dhoni's boys wrap tricolours around them while running the victory laps, is it appropriate for BCCI to continue to have this logo?

This petition is for the BCCI to immediately stop using the old imperialist logo and instead adopt a new one that more appropriately represents Indians' national pride and aspirations.
