We, representatives of 1,400 people in Phuong Que and Vinh Loc Hamlets. announce the crime committed by local communist authorities in Bac Giang Province, and particularly Trai Ke police force against Venerable Thich Nguyen Kien (real name Duong Van Trung).

Venerable Thich Nguyen Kien has been imprisoned for three years for the false felony of stealing a Buddha statue. Venerable Thich Nguyen Kien has earned utmost respect from all of us for his morality as well as his dedication to help the local people .We strongly believe that it is impossible for Venerable Thich Nguyen Kien to steal such as large Buddha statue.

During the 3 years imprisonment Venerable never accept the felony that the local communist authority pinned on him despite brutal torture such as beating his private part until bleeding , hanging him upside down with his hands cuffed behind his back and hitting his head to the wall. Another victim in this case is Venerable Thich Duc Chinh (also named Huong) who died in prison as a result of the brutal torture.

We greatly appreciate all your help to free an innocent victim, and suggest that the Vietnamese Communist leaders investigate this case and release Venerable Thich Nguyen Kien.

Attached is the signature of 1400 people in Phuong Que and Vinh Loc Hamlets, Lien Phuong and Tu Phu Villages, Thuong Tin District, Ha Tay Province, Vietnam.
