Petition for a New Contract With America sign now

Petition for a New Contract With America

Back in 1994, the new Republican Majority in the House of Representatives signed the "Contract With America" with the following goal in mind:

"The end of government that is too big, too intrusive, and too easy with the public's money. It can be the beginning of a Congress that respects the values and shares the faith of the American family.

Like Lincoln, our first Republican president, we intend to act 'with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right.' To restore accountability to Congress. To end its cycle of scandal and disgrace. To make us all proud again of the way free people govern themselves."

WELL, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?

Its time for a New Contract With America. One that holds Congress and the President and The People accountable & restores faith and pride in American democracy.

New Contract With America

In order to establish a government that fully embraces and protects all people and completes the vision of our Founding Fathers, as laid out in the Preamble of the United States Constitution:

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

The People of the United States of America, The United States Congress and The President of the United States of America enter into the following covenant with each other:

We the Congress and the President of the United States of America promise to uphold and protect all of the rights of the American Public as defined in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution, regardless of the color of their skin, age, gender, socio-economic standing, religious views or their sexual orientation.

In return, we the People promise to elect leaders, regardless of the color of their skin, age, gender, socio-economic standing, religious views or their sexual orientation.

We the Congress and the President of the United States of America promise to tell the American Public the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, at all times.

In return, we the People promise to listen to the truth, hear it for what it is, and act responsibly and in accordance with what is best for our country.

We the Congress and the President of the United States of America promise only to run in fair and open elections in which every vote for every candidate counts, not just those of the majority.

In return, we the People promise to stay informed of our political candidates and vote in every election possible, based on an intelligent weighing of the issues, not familiarity of names, political party lines or the empty words of media campaigns.

We the Congress and the President of the United States of America promise to put our military troops in harm's way only as a last resort and only in protection of America's borders, homeland, liberty or well-being or the defense of, or support for, the borders, homeland, liberty or well-being of our allies.

In return, we the People promise to support our committed troops, no matter what, recognizing the sacrifice they are making for our country.

We the Congress and the President of the United States of America promise to maintain honest and open communication with the American people and maintain high ethical standards, be personally accountable for all decisions made, and hold the interests of the public in the highest regard, regardless of party or position.

In return, we the People promise to peaceably and lawfully do whatever is necessary to communicate with our leaders and representatives and to make our voices heard so that we may be properly and accurately represented.

We the Congress and the President of the United States of America promise to provide a high-quality education for all Americans who seek it, regardless of their geographical location, the color of their skin, age, gender, socio-economic standing, religious views or their sexual orientation.

In return, we the People promise to participate whole-heartedly in the educational system of this country, including leading our children by example, teaching our children the importance of an education and working with teachers to reinforce school lessons and curricula at home.

We the Congress and the President of the United States of America promise to provide for high-quality low-cost medical care for all Americans, regardless of their ability to pay for it, the color of their skin, age, gender, socio-economic standing, religious views or their sexual orientation.

In return, we the People promise to practice prevention as a way to reduce high medical costs associated with treating disease, rather than wellness in this country.

We the Congress and the President of the United States of America promise to ensure that a healthy lifestyle is at least as affordable and attainable as its unhealthy, unbalanced counterpart.

In return, we the People promise to take advantage of healthier solutions, get regular exercise and teach our children the importance of taking care of their bodies and minds, as opposed to filling them with unhealthy amounts of fast food, video games and television.

We the Congress and the President of the United States of America promise to support an open and unbiased media, one that challenges the our decisions, demands our accountability and reports all sides of the story not just the ones that suit the singular purpose or focus of the editor-in-charge or our personal or political interests.

In return, we the People promise to act responsibly and think for ourselves, not taking for granted what we see in the media, always checking facts against rumors and using common sense, regardless of party lines or political spin.

We the Congress and the President of the United States of America promise to promote low-cost alternatives to fossil fuels in the marketplace and support a significant reduction in our reliance on them within the next ten years, not only to protect our environment, but also reduce our reliance on foreign resources.

In return, we the People promise to do our part to support low-cost alternatives to fossil fuels in the marketplace and support a significant reduction in our reliance on them within the next ten years, not only to protect our environment, but also reduce our reliance on foreign resources.
