Petition Against Texas Unregulated Natural Gas Drilling sign now

Extensive research on the natural gas well industry can be found at the following website: www.gaswells.org

Health issue disclosures are important to document because the health industry can trace what cluster of illnesses citizens are already experiencing from these natural gas wells.

Thank you from Rick, Christy and Buddy!

We the citizens of Texas do hereby present this petition to ALL the elected officials in Texas, at both city and state levels, The Texas Railroad Commission, and The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to block all future natural gas well permits being requested by the natural gas industry in the State of Texas until this industry complies with ALL EPA , Hazmat, and OSHA regulations put in place by our forefathers to protect Texas citizens. As you are all fully aware the natural gas industry is currently allowed sweeping environmental exemptions from Federal United States EPA,HAZMAT and OSHA laws. These exemptions are known as the "Halliburton Loophole." The Federal Government put these laws in place to protect our environment and the health and lives of U.S. citizens. This has left the natural gas industry carte blanche to obtain United States land using whatever deceptive tactics they choose leaving toxic air, water, soil and human devastation in their wake. This is a passionate plea to preserve the health of our families and the value of our homes. This industry claims exemption from disclosing their use of toxic chemicals because THEY SAY it is a trade secret, like "Coca Cola." The chemicals they use are highly toxic. We are not talking about drinking a soft drink over dinner, we are talking about dying from leukemia, neuromuscular diseases, autoimmune disorders and acute asthma attacks. We are talking about losing the value of our homes. Not being able to sell our homes if they are too close to a gas well because FHA no longer will loan money to homebuyers for homes too close to gas wells. Being limited or not being able to obtain homeowners insurance. Being subject to having to evacuate our homes because of an explosion or being injured from an explosion. The natural gas industry and the government officials are knowingly risking the lives of our families and the values of our homes. They are putting everyone including emergency workers and medical personnel surrounding these gas wells, and UNSCENTED natural gas gathering pipelines at VERY high risk. They are especially compromising the health of the many children and elderly who live in our communities. For those whose homes have been subjected to gas wells within a short distance, the hydraulic fracking noise is far beyond disturbance of the peace. You are aware Congress is becoming involved. You can set a moratorium until Congress can close these dangerous environmental loopholes. You all have been fully educated on the dangers this industry poses to Texas citizens. This is no longer a season of denial, You can no longer deny the negative impacts this industry is having on the health and homeownership on the citizens of this State. The gas in the gas gathering pipelines is scent free so if there is a leak there is no way for a citizen to know until someone lights a match. The time has come, the statistics are arriving. A two year study has proven that asthma is 3-4 times the national average in a shale area. Leukemia clusters are currently being investigated near these natural gas wells. Toxic air quality studies have been documented. Benzene has been found in the air at very toxic levels. Methane has been found at very toxic levels. One town in particular found benzene in the air around EVERY gas well tested at extremely dangerous levels. Toxic explosive residential water has been documented in numerous cases. Time for a moratorium! Time For elected State officials of Texas representing Texas citizens, The Railroad Commission of Texas and The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to take responsibility for what they know and send a strong message to the citizens of Texas that this is OUR LAND, and you will protect us from the dangers of and deceptive land grabbing practices of the natural gas industry. This IS putting our health and the investment in our homes in serious jeopardy. Many of the damages that have already occurred are irreversible. We cannot wait for more studies. CITIZENS ARE AREADY SICK AND DYING. We are asking all City and State government officials to set a moratorium in place NOW.

WE, THE CITIZENS OF TEXAS STAND UNITED AGAINST ANY FURTHER NATURAL GAS WELL PERMITS. WE STAND UNITED TO LIFT ALL EXEMPTIONS ON CURRENT GAS WELLS AND CLEAN THEM UP. TO BE ALLOWED TO BE FREE FROM THE DANGERS THIS INDUSTRY IS POSING TO THE HEALTH OF OUR FAMILIES VIA TOXINS IN THE AIR, WATER, AND LAND. TO BE FREE FROM DANGEROUS EXPLOSIONS AND EVACUATIONS AND TO BE ALLOWED TO BE FREE FROM DISTURBANCE OF OUR PEACE AND TO PRESERVE THE VALUE OF OUR HOMES.
