Pay for what you use. sign now

Sunday, February 19, 2006

All motor vehicles occupying less than 2400 cubic feet* and requiring vehicle licenses to operate on California streets and highways will be licensed on the basis of the cubic feet that they occupy.

Larger vehicles that are now on the roads use more of the space on public streets, parking areas, and the free-ways than in the past. A large percentage of these vehicles are single occupant driven. If large vehicle operators occupy more space on our public thoroughfares than normal size vehicles the vehicle operators should pay for the extra space that they use. Large vehicles burn more fuel, block visibility, and create unsafe driving conditions. Why should large vehicle operators use more of the public space, jeopardize public safety and not pay for the problem ? Licensing motor vehicles by engine horse power or year is no longer as important as physical size. There is only a limited amount of space for all of us to share.

*length x width x height = cube feet.

Commercial vehicles of 2400 cubic feet and larger should be exempt of any license increase under this petition.

Please sign. Help make our driving safer.
