Now In The News: Aaron Brown deserves his show sign now

Aaron Brown, the witty, acerbic, though trustworthy anchor of CNN's "Newsnight", has been pushed out of his job to make room for that twit Anderson Cooper and two straight hours of Mr. Cooper mumbling about missing blonde women. Brown's firing is a loss for news lovers everywhere, a sign that the media is pandering to a young demographic. CNN is obviously trying to chase "Daily Show"-reared teens and twenty-somethings into watching flashy graphics and drowning reporters. As an eighteen-year-old who has already lost "Crossfire" and "Inside Politics" (the one-and-only Judy Woodruff) this year alone, I was sickened when I heard that Aaron Brown too was heading for the door. Cable news has been a lost cause for years, but Mr. Brown served as a reminder of what it could and should be. He didn't need to be loud and angry, hip and tech-savvy. He handled the news the way it deserves to be handled: with respect and intelligence. But now we are faced with a future of Ander Cooper's "hip take" on the news, as if we need it. Aaron Brown deserves his show and it is a shame CNN's president Jon Klein feels otherwise.
