Nomination of Prof. Sonny Coloma as AIM President sign now

WE, the undersigned, members of the AIM community hereby nominate Prof. Sonny Coloma as President of the Asian Institute of Management. (Note: Prof. Coloma has indicated his willingness to be a nominee for the position).

WE firmly believe that Prof. Coloma is uniquely qualified to lead AIM during this most critical period for the following reasons:

1. Prof. Coloma has served AIM for 21 years, both as a member of the faculty and management, placing him in the best position to facilitate and guide the intricate partnerships among AIM stakeholders, particularly between the faculty and management;

2. Prof. Coloma is a nurturing and supportive person. Hence, he is most likely to succeed in community building among the various stakeholders of AIM;

3. Prof. Coloma is a visionary but at the same time a realist. Hence, he will be able to provide the strategic leadership that AIM needs and implement a practicable action plan that can draw broad-based support from its stakeholders to reclaim AIMs eminent position in management education in Asia;

4. Prof. Coloma has been in the field of education for more than 25 years, most of which he dedicated to being an AIM faculty member and administrator. This includes a three-year stint as President of the University of Makati; and short-term teaching stints at the University of the East, Letran College and St. Scholasticas College;

5. Prof. Coloma has served the Philippine government under the Aquino and Estrada administrations, holding key positions as Head of the Presidential Management Staff and Deputy Executive Secretary in the Office of the President and Undersecretary of the Department of Transportation. Prof. Coloma headed the Philippine delegations to international conferences like the semestral meetings of the International Maritime Organization and the United Nations body for promoting maritime safety and environmental protection;

6. Prof. Coloma is a well known leader of civic organizations and professional groups and has served as Governor of Rotary International and President of the People Management Association of the Philippines. He is currently a Director of the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) and a member of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP). For the past 22 years, he has also been a columnist of Business World, the countrys leading business newspaper. Hence, as a recognized leader in civil society, business and industry, Prof. Coloma can put to work his extensive network and communication skills as valuable elements in undertaking a widescale resource mobilization campaign for AIM;

7. Prof. Coloma has a strong rapport with, and enjoys high credibility among AIM alumni as Past Chairman of the Federation of AIM Alumni Associations (FAIM), the Alumni Association of AIM Philippines, and a recipient of FAIMs Alumni Achievement Award (Triple A) that is conferred on outstanding graduates. Hence, Prof. Coloma has the biggest potential to mobilize support among the alumni who stands as a vital stakeholder group of the Institute;

8. All told, Prof. Coloma demonstrates the rare distinction of having been a member and a leader of the vital stakeholder groups of the Institute as:
a student (MBM 1978 With Distinction) and as a student leader (Class President);
an alumnus and alumni leader; a faculty member; an administrator (Associate Dean for Executive Education;
Associate Dean for MBM; Program Director for MDM, MBM, and ME.

Recently, Prof. Coloma successfully attained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Organization Development which reinforces his academic qualification to lead AIM as Asia's top management school.

FOR being a seasoned member and leader of the AIM Community, FOR possessing exemplary leadership qualities, and FOR demonstrating competence and loyalty to the Institute, WE strongly believe that Prof. Coloma deserves an opportunity to serve as AIM President.
