Your home is at risk from the Tories

David Cameron has spoken about his plans to ditch the rights of tenants to stay in their home for as long as they wish to.

The Tories are planning to introduce fixed term tenancies meaning that in future you could be forced out of their homes after just five years tenancy.

We support secure tenancies for people in Blackpool. The knowledge that no- one can make you leave your home brings security to families from all walks of life.

A secure and affordable home helps people to establish themselves in work, in education and settle down. Forcing people in Blackpool to move out of their accommodation after as little as five years will damage communities.

The Tory plans for fixed termed tenancies are not fair. Even those on above average incomes could struggle to afford private housing in some areas

In many areas, where private house prices are high, those who under the Tory plans would no longer qualify to stay in their socially rented home could be forced to move away from their home towns.

Defend your rights against the Tories plans: support our campaign
You shouldnt be forced to leave your job or family and friends behind.

We want to fight back against the Tories unfair attack on social housing. And you can help us stop them doing this in Blackpool.

We are supporting a campaign called Defend your tenancy rights from the Tories which will put pressure on the government to stop fixed term tenancies in its tracks. With your help we can make this campaign a success. Please sign the petition today!

Best wishes

Cllr Simon Blackburn
Labour Group Leader
Councillor for Brunswick Ward
