To Whom It may concern,

For as long as I can remember, radio has been a part of my life. Historically, New York has has some of the best radio stations. They not only gave news and important information, but they played some of the greatest music ever for people of all ages. Growing up to these stations made me very happy. However,I,as well as other listeners, have gotten older and my choices for listening to quality radio has become fewer and far between as a result of Call Letter, Format, and even owenership changes.
One of these radio stations is 102.7 WNEW FM.

In September 1999, WNEW FM changed their format from classic rock to All Talk. Then in April 2003, it became Blink 102.7- the format was short lived. Then in December 2003, it became Mix 102.7, competing with 103.5 WKTU. In January 2007, WNEW FM became WWFS and Mix 102.7 became Fresh 102.7 FM. it mission statement is that Fresh 102.7 does not play songs that are too old or too light (in competiton with 106.7 Lite FM). Despite having great determination of lure listeners from Lite FM, the claim is a bit misleading.
If you claim to play today's Fresh Music, then why do you play songs from the 1980' and 1990's? Also, how many times can your listeners tolerate listening to "Paparazzi" from Lady Gaga? Maybe repetition is driving away your listeners to other stations that have a better variety of music with less redundancy.

That said, I feel that it is time for a long over due change of both call letters and format to 102.7 FM. The WNEW FM call letter need to return to 102.7 becasue WWFS has no historical signifcance whatsoever. I also feel that the format at your station is an oversaturation of adult contmepary music that is played by other radio stations in the New York area. If feel that if a format change is to happen, then the format is a genre that has not been broadcasted on New York Radio since May of 2002, and that is Country Music.

As a fan of Country music, I have to go out of my way to listen to Country Music on the radio. I would either have to drive up to Orange County to listen to WRWD, drive along 9W in Rockland County to pick up Kicks 105.5 from Daunbury, or wait until nightfall to pick up 920 CKNX from Wingham, Ontario, 1070 CHOK from Sarnia, Ontaraio, and 1260 CKJH from Frederiction, New Brunswick.

As a frustrated New York Radio listner, I am coinmg to the point that I can no longer afford the luxury of wasting my time, my money, and my patience on waiting for the day when a country music format returns to New York. I am asking you in kindness to seriously entertain the though for bring back Country Music back to New York Radio after an Eight Year hiatus. I Thank You For Your Time.

Sincerely Yours,
Joseph R. Dugan
