My vote, my reason: Feb 9 2010 Seattle Schools Operations Levy sign now

Jan/Feb 2010. Survey of voter sentiment on the Feb. 9, 2010 Operations Levy ballot measure.

Background:

The Seattle School District is submitting two ballot measures. This petition concerns Proposition No. 2 Operations Levy. Ballot measure "Proposition No. 1" is titled "Capital Levy." For both levies, only a simple majority is needed for passage.

Purpose:

We suspect that many parents may vote against one or both of the school levies, due to a recent extraordinary District error that has resulted in a $48 million expense, and due to non-responsiveness of Distict Leadership to community concerns.

The purpose of this survey is to give voters a chance to let the Board know why they are voting against the OPERATIONS levy. (A separate survey has been created for the Capital Levy ballot measure.)

We anticipate that if either or both levies fail, the Board will bring another levy before voters within the calendar year. In this event, this survey will help the Board to understand what they might be able to do to draw stronger support in a subsequent attempt to get a school levy ballot measure approved.
