Mrs. Quinn - 1st Grade Teacher at Transfiguration School sign now

We are a group of concerned Transfiguration parents writing this letter regarding Mrs. Quinn, Transfigurations 1st Grade Teacher.

We were left shocked and disappointed to learn that the school administration has failed to offer Mrs. Quinn a contract to return as the 1st Grade Teacher for the 20102011 school year. We are sure that you can imagine the range of emotions aroused by this decision: disbelief, shock, anger, dismay, and sorrow. To us, Mrs. Quinn is more than just an ordinary teacher; she is an exceptional teacher and a friend to the parents, the children, and the school. We feel compelled to expend any time and effort necessary to address our grave concern that the school has made a misguided and incorrect decision.

Those Transfiguration parents lucky enough to have children in Mrs. Quinns classes know, first hand, how important Mrs. Quinn is to the school and the children. Mrs. Quinn has made a difference in our children's lives. Our children learn from her, trust her, confide in her, laugh with her, and hug her. The children that know her love her. She is all a teacher should be and more. She exemplifies the schools mission that Christ be our Light.

If we did not feel that this teacher was doing her job and was integral to the schools success, we would not waste our time trying to persuade you to help correct a major staffing decision failure. Like you, education is our first priority when it comes to our children. By every conceivable measuring criteria, Mrs. Quinn is an outstanding educator. We are very pleased with her overall teaching methods. In fact, our only wish would be that Transfiguration School has more teachers just like her. Mrs. Quinn has given not just her time or her knowledge, but has given each child his or her own inspiration, eagerness, motivation, and willingness with the want to learn. It takes a true teacher with a gift to accomplish that.

We are mindful of the fact that, in these current times, budgetary concerns are paramount and the establishment of the Frassati Academy has left the school administration in the unenviable position of making difficult, and possibly political, staffing choices. Nonetheless, any staffing decision that leaves Mrs. Quinn off of the roster of Transfiguration teachers is shortsighted and incorrect. The stakes for the school at this time are high. The repercussions of an incorrect decision now will have a lasting effect on the school for many years.

We are writing to ask that you take the time to look at the spirit of our reasoning and reconsider the decision of offering a contract to Mrs. Quinn as the 1st Grade Teacher at Transfiguration School for the 2010-2011 school year. We are firm in our belief that, in the long run, the school will be better off with Mrs. Quinn than without her.
