Please make sure that the other top members of the front office see this.

We, fans of the New York Mets Baseball Club, wish to express our displeasure with regard to the performance of the players and management over the last 3 seasons.

We feel that the on field product produced by Sterling/Mets does not live up to expected perennial trend of improvement. As with any product, if it does not perform to the satisfaction of the consumers, it can be replaced with something better. Before things get to that point, however, wed like to let you know what we feel needs to be improved upon, in hopes that youll want to keep our business.

What follows is an outline of changes we feel will serve to improve the team and organization.

Better talent evaluation on all levels of management.

From the scouts to the GM, the methods of evaluating player potential need to be improved. Too many times many of our prospects have not panned out while the ones that do have to be concerned about being traded away. We also seem to take in too many past their prime veteran players in trades and free agent signings. While we understand that it is impossible to sign a only top tier free agents, there are some players that perhaps should be seeing limited amounts of playing time.

Coaching and Management on field.

Too often weve watched the players commit errors on what should be routine plays and at-bats. If the coaching and management cannot identify and correct the issues, then new coaches, better coaches need to be found. Fundamental baseball is essential to the success of any winning team.

Player Commitment.

If a player does not want to be part of the New York Mets, he will not play to his potential. These players need to be traded, or released. Some players, specifically in losing situations, will not run out routine hits, or appear to take a lackadaisical approach to the game in general. They need to be told that if they do not perform 100\% on every play, in every game, they will be fined, left out of the lineup, traded or released.

Using players based on salary or Star Power.

This needs to stop. Yes, everyone wants to see the marquis players, but if he is in a slump or otherwise not performing to potential, he needs to sit. The manager must be able to do what is best for the team, whatever is most conducive to getting the win, not worrying about using a player simply to get your moneys worth.

Veteran players influence.

It has been rumored that certain veteran players on the New York Mets have various degrees of influence as to the personnel decisions the organization makes. This should not be allowed. The players do not run the team. Management runs the team, the players are merely employees.

Acquiring talent.

Please do not view the fans as people of lesser intelligence. We feel betrayed when management makes a half hearted attempt to acquire the more talented players available and then tell us that we tried. We should aim to go into it with the desire to get the players, or not. If it is not possible or probable for the team to be able to afford the player or have a regular place for him to play, then please tell us to our faces. But saying we tried after a half hearted attempt is an insult.

Please take these points under consideration. We want to see the team succeed as, Im sure, you do. If things continue in the fashion that they have, you will undoubtedly lose nearly all of the fandom and viewer ship you need to allow the Mets to continue to be a financially viable venture.

Thank you for your time and lets hope for some good luck on the field tonight.
